Frequently asked
How does the quote work?
Enter your pickup and delivery ZIP codes and your vehicle, then add a couple of contact details. We calculate the driving distance and multiply by your vehicle’s per-mile rate to show a real estimate. Your dispatcher confirms the final figure.
Why isn’t your quote the cheapest number I’ve seen?
Because it’s a real one. The lowest quotes in this industry are hooks — the price climbs once no carrier will take the load. Your ShiftHaul estimate is distance times your vehicle’s rate, and it isn’t designed to creep.
What does “verified carrier” mean?
On every load we confirm the assigned carrier by SMS to their FMCSA-registered phone, pull their insurance certificate directly from the agent, and match the truck’s VIN to the driver at pickup. It’s included — never an upsell.
What does “broker and carrier” mean for me?
Most companies are brokers only, reselling your load to a carrier they don’t control. ShiftHaul holds both authorities (MC 1786043, USDOT 4511175), so the accountability stays with us.
Is my car insured during transport?
Yes. Before pickup we confirm the carrier’s cargo and liability coverage — straight from the insurance agent, not the carrier — so we know it’s active and covers your vehicle’s value.
How do I know the driver who shows up is the right one?
At pickup we match the truck’s VIN and a photo of the driver to the carrier we assigned and confirmed. It’s logged to your record with a timestamp, so the person taking your car is the one we verified.
How long will shipping take?
It depends on distance and route, so your dispatcher gives you an honest window rather than a date we can’t keep. You can follow the load live in your portal from pickup to delivery.
Open or enclosed — which should I choose?
Open transport moves most cars safely and affordably. Choose enclosed for a classic, exotic, or high-value vehicle you want shielded from weather and the road; enclosed is quoted individually.
Which states do you cover?
All 48 continental states, door to door.
